Here is What You’ll Need
To make CBD infused cooking oil, there are only two ingredients the recipe calls for. The main ingredient you can’t purchase at the grocery store. That ingredient is CBD isolate. CBD isolate is easy to use and very affordable. If you would like to purchase isolate or read more information on it, here is the company we have been using:
The only other ingredient you will need is the cooking oil you are infusing with!
How to Make CBD-Infused Cooking Oil
To make CBD-infused cooking oil, we use CBD isolate for the infusion. If you have CBD isolate, the infusion is simple to make and is ready in just a few minutes!
Step 1: Add the cooking oil you are using to a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Add the CBD isolate to the oil and mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Pour CBD-infused cooking oil into an airtight container and refrigerate for best results.
How to Calculate The Potency of CBD-Infused Cooking Oil
We recommend calculating the potency of the CBD-infused cooking oil prior to making it. You must know the potency of the oil if you want to calculate the potency of each recipe you make. Furthermore, if you know the potency of the oil, you will be able to precisely calculate how many mg of CBD are in each portion of the recipe.
To calculate the potency, all you need to do is measure the amount of CBD isolate used in the infusion. The package the CBD comes in may have serving guides and instructions to do this. Another way to measure the amount of CBD is by using a scale. CBD is measured in milligrams (mg), so if the scale reads 0.1g (grams) that is equivalent to 100mg.
Aim to use approximately 0.5 grams which is equivalent to 500mg of CBD for every cup of oil. We also have a potency calculator at the bottom of this post that you can use to help calculate the dosage you want! We recommend doing this before making the infused cooking oil so you know precisely how much isolate to add!
If you need a scale to measure the CBD isolate for the infusion, this is the scale we recommend: here is a link to the scale we use which can be purchased on Amazon!

How to Make CBD-Infused Cooking Oil With Cannabis
Another method of making CBD-infused cooking oil is by using a strain of cannabis that is high in CBD. There are strains of cannabis that contain high levels of CBD with almost no THC. An example would be a strain with a 20:1 ratio of CBD to THC content.
If this is the method you are going to use, check out our cannabis-infused cooking oil guide. All you need to do is follow the same directions in that recipe, but substitute a CBD strain of cannabis instead of regular cannabis.
Keep in mind: in most circumstances, these strains still have some traces of THC in them. Therefore if you make the infusion using this method, your CBD-infused cooking oil might still produce slightly psychoactive effects. This all depends on how much THC was in the cannabis.
Use the potency calculator below to calculate and find a dosage you like! We recommend you play around with the calculator prior to making the infused oil until you find the potency you need. This way you will know exactly how much oil and CBD isolate you need for the infusion.
Once you have calculated the total milligrams of CBD per tablespoon of oil, you can use that to calculate the mg of CBD in each portion of any recipe you make. Ensure you divide the recipe into even-sized portions so the calculation is accurate.
