This recipe is going to require around 40 – 55 minutes.

Gummy bears spread our artistically on a white surface. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and white.

What You’re Going to Need

Before we get into the ingredients and directions, we’re going to need a few things:

Organic Refined Coconut Oil

We use refined organic coconut oil when we make our infusion. That is because it does not have any distinct coconut taste or aroma, making it a good cooking medium. Here’s a link to the refined coconut oil that we use.

If you don’t have cannabis-infused coconut oil, we have a comprehensive guide to making it here. We also have a comprehensive guide in our cannabis cookbook, along with over 130 other edible recipes, you can learn more about our cookbook here!

  • Stove
  • Cooking Pot
  • Whisk
  • Gummy Bear Moulds
  • Dropper
  • Freezer

  • 1/2 Cup Cannabis-Infused Coconut Oil (Refined coconut oil, solid at room temperature)
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Water
  • 85 Grams Packet of Flavoured Gelatine *One Jell-o Pack
  • 2 Tablespoons Plain Unflavoured Gelatine (20 Grams)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Sunflower / Soy Lecithin (liquid lecithin) (Optional)

  • Turn your stove on low heat. In a pot, add water, the cannabis-infused coconut oil, and the sunflower/soy lecithin.
  • Continue stirring the mixture until it has a consistent texture and the coconut oil has completely melted. Now, add in the flavoured gelatin and the unflavoured gelatin while continuing to stir throughout this process.
  • Whisk extensively on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the gelatine is completely dissolved. Make sure it does not come to a boil. But, you need to make sure that all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. (Don't stop stirring this mixture for the entire 15 minutes)
  • While leaving the pot on the element, start filling up the gummy bear moulds with a dropper (a dropper is a mini turkey baster that comes with most gummy bear moulds). Make sure to move quickly. If your liquid starts to separate, it's because the mixture has started to cool. It's critical that you move fast otherwise the oil may separate in the pot. You need to continue whisking throughout the pouring process otherwise the mixture may start to harden and stop binding. (The secret to making great infused gummy bears is pouring the mixture into the moulds as fast as possible.)
  • Put the gummy bear moulds into the freezer for 20-25 minutes. (Pro tip:  lift the mould 2 inches off the table and drop it. This will let the mixture fill any air pockets.)
  • Bon Appetite!

add a 3/4 tsp of citric acid into the mixture, use lemonade instead of water, and once the gummies come out of the freezer coat them in sugar. If you’re using potent cannabis oil, this should help with the taste.
Store in the refrigerator for best results.

Potency Guide

The strength of gummy bears will depend on the potency of your cannabis-infused coconut oil. It’s also important to remember that gummy bear moulds are all different shapes and sizes so it is going to be difficult to accurately find your potency. Luckily, we have a calculator here to help you find your potency per serving.

Potency Guide to Cannabis-Infused Gummy Bears

When it comes to the potency of your homemade edibles, it’s hard to determine just how potent they really are. We have created a dosage calculator to help estimate the potency of the homemade weed gummy bears. To get an accurate measurement, you will need to know the potency of the cannabis-infused coconut oil first. You can find the dosage calculator for the coconut oil at the bottom of that recipe – click here to find that calculator.

Once you know the potency of your cannabis-infused coconut oil, you can input it into this dosage calculator below. Keep in mind, this is just a rough estimate. Also if you make an error in the calculation at the start, it will carry through until the end.

If those directions were hard to follow, check out this video. We have our own video for gummy bears being filmed right now, so stay tuned for an in-depth recipe video in the near future.

I really like the simplicity of this recipe, so quick and easy. So I followed the instructions from the written instructions, then I tried the instructions from video. By adding all the ingredients together then mixing it Like the video directions I found it creates a better smoother texture. The written instructions created small chunks. Reply

Ok so I’m replying to my first post. I MAY or may not have diverted slightly from the instructions in my first attempts. Admission I tried to use canola oil I went 1for 4 successful none really meshed or tasted good. This time however I followed directions and they have turned out looking good which make me happy cause I made purple and yellow gummies to honor Kobe, Gigi along with the 7 victims.
  2. Thank you for the reply but how much oil should I be using for the recipe. One 30 ml bottle or more ? Is it more concentrated compared to infused coconut oil ? So how do you figure how strong the gummies will be.

    • Can someone give me some guidance on how much oil I should use. See my above question? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • Let me make sure I’ve got this right. Your 30ml of oil contains 20.7mg of THC in it, correct? If this is the case, this will give you a very low dosage. The 1/2 cup of coconut oil equals approximately 118ml. Even if you used 4 jars to make up the volume the potency would only be about 2.75mg THC per gummy. The average potency of gummies I get from the dispensaries is 10mg per gummy. Using the recipe calculator, it says if you have 300mg THC in the 1/2 cup of oil and it produces 30 gummies, then they will be 10mg per gummy. You would be better off buying flower or distillate to use in making your own oil, at approximately 600mg per cup of coconut oil. Hopefully, this makes sense and helps you out.
Follow the link to use the oil potency calculator on the page and you will be able to determine the potency of the oil you’re going to make.

    • Okay so the oil I am referring to is used just a few drops under the tongue. I don’t like the taste and now get it in capsules. I figured I could just use that oil straight up, not infused into any other oil such as coconut. That is why I thought it would be strong since the oil is not diluted per say. So that’s were the confusion comes in, knowing how strong they would be. I still have some of the oil so thought I could use that for the gummies?? When you have never used thus stuff before it’s very confusing on what is what LOL. I have seen other recipes that say just add a few teaspoons.

    • Hi has anyone used a ounce to make the coconut infusion? Do I need more coconut oil or is it still the 1/2 cup? Keep in mind I’m looking to make LEGO blocks with 300 mg per.

  3. So confused, I am going through cancer treatments and have prescription cannabis oil. Can I use this to make the gummies? The oil comes in a 30 ml.jar , 20.7 mg/ml THC. Also have a CBD/HTC combo. How do I use this for gummie recipe, don’t understand how much and what the dosage would be. Can’t stand the taste of the oil so thought I could make the gummies to make it easier to stomach. Any help would be appreciated, obviously I am very green on this subject.

    • Hi Ann,
yes, you can use this oil. You can just add it instead of the coconut oil and it should work the same. Make sure to mix well when you’re heating. For the taste, try this:

use lemonade or another type of juice in place of water
add a tsp of citric acid into the mixture when heating
After the gummies come out of the freezer, roll them in sugar

You will still taste the oil but this will cover it up quite a bit. Wish you the best of luck with the cancer treatments

  6. Ryan, I see a few questions about the oil separating from the gummies. I tried making weed gummies using a gummy kit (Angel) and my cannabis infused liquid coconut oil (President’s Choice) separated from the gummy mixture. I used the sous vide method to decarb my cannabis bud (3.3 gms) and to infuse the liquid coconut oil (1/2 cup) with 1/4 teaspoon of “now” liquid sunflower lecithin. This was my first time decarbing cannabis and trying to make cannabis gummies.
My eventual goal is to make Jello cannabis gummy alcohol shots. What can I do to ensure the canna-oil does not separate from the gummy mixture?

  7. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Going to try making them. Just making the infused oil first. I was reading all the comments. Didn’t see anyone asking do you need to bloom the gelatin? Or just put in the pot? Also in some recipes I have seen call for corn syrup. I have the marijuana leaf molds they hold 4ml of liquid. I used 28g shake and 1cup coconut oil. 1st attempt I think they will be too strong?

I’m not sure where I screwed up: I followed the instructions and the oil separated as it was cooling off. I’m using HEB Organic refined coconut oil. Reply
  9. A standard box of flavored jello is 8.5 grams, is 85 grams a typo or do you need
10 boxes of jello or is there another brand to use. Thanks.

  10. How big is the gummy bear mould you used? I would imagine this will make more than 12 small gummy bears, the size of the normal haribo gummies.
